It seems like OI only has a subset of the controls that are available. Is it possible to insert a missing control into an OI form? For example, is it possible to insert the ListView contorl (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/controls/list-view-control-reference) into an OI form?

Page 16 of Sprezzatura's March 2007 Electronic Newsletter is a good starting point. It takes some work to make it happen, but it's theoretically doable. You'll have to deal with pointers, windows structs, and callbacks to make it all happen.

The example in there looks simple, but the ListvView control is more complex? i will give it a try anyway.
